Excursions

One of the most attractive possibilities for a small excursion is a trip by boat to Westerplatte, Sopot or the Hel Peninsula. The ships are leaving from the bank of Motlawa river during the summer season.

Once you get familiar with all the charms of old Gdansk, it is well worth to visit the younger cities of the Three city agglomeration.

Sopot – a very popular seaside destination, with the longest pier in Europe, entering the Baltic Sea by 512 meters. The main Monte Cassino Street, one of the most popular walks in Poland, is rich in restaurant and cafes, while the beautiful beach is drawing a multitude of tourists. The city is also the clubbing capital of northern Poland. You can get from Gdansk to Sopot in a fast and easy way with the interurban train SKM.

Gdynia – the youngest of the three cities transformed almost a century ago from a small fishermen’s village into a vast city with 100 thousand inhabitants, thanks to the building of a harbor. In the harbor, one can now admire beautiful sailing boats and different ships. To reach Gdynia with the SKM train, it will take you about 30 minutes.

You will find the SKM schedule at www.skm.trojmiasto.pl.

The surroundings of Gdansk also offer a multitude of one day excursion possibilities. We suggest you to visit:

Malbork – the medieval town, which main attraction is the castle of the three Grand Masters of the Order of the Cross. By train it takes less than one hour to reach the town.

The connections are available on the website www.pkp.pl.

Frombork – town and place of burial of Nikolaus Copernicus, the famous astronomer, who “stopped the sun, moved the earth”. Here you may find his former observatory.
